Your Choice For Real Estate Solutions

Hanson Real Estate Advisors, Inc.(HREA) is a multi-generation, family owned and operated, real estate appraisal, consulting and brokerage firm. HREA has been “providing real estate solutions to southwest Florida” for well over a century. The Hanson family’s involvement in the Fort Myers-Lee County real estate market dates back to 1884, with the arrival of Dr. William Hanson who purchased numerous tracts of land which were subdivided and platted. These subdivisions are part of Fort Myers’ history today. Hanson Real Estate Advisors, Inc. is currently owned and operated by Woodward S. Hanson, MAI, CRE, CCIM, a fifth generation Fort Myers native and Year 2000 Past National President of The Appraisal Institute, America’s largest real estate appraisal organization, with headquarters in Chicago, Illinois.

With an envisioned future for real estate or “spatial economics,” Mr. Hanson is a leader in local, state, and national real estate issues and assignments. Recognizing the changes occurring to the real estate capital market, Mr. Hanson is preparing HREA for the twenty-first century through the use of geographical information systems (GIS), data base technologies, market econometrics, advanced statistical applications, neural networks and strategic alliance partners. As a member of the Appraisal Institute (MAI), the Counselors of Real Estate (CRE), the Commercial Investment Real Estate Institute (CCIM), the National Association of Realtors (NAR), the Florida Association of Realtors (FAR), and the Fort Myers Board of Realtors, Mr. Hanson has over 27 years of experience in most all facets of the real estate industry. Mr. Hanson has offered expert testimony to the U.S Congress, Federal Tax Court, various Federal Courts, the Chancery Court of Delaware and numerous state courts throughout Florida and the United States.

Mr. Hanson’s assignments have taken him as far west as Hawaii, where he completed research and valuation to assist the investment banking community in the implementation of an Employee Stock Ownership Plan, or ESOP leveraged buyout, of the U.S. Sugar Company; as far east as the Abaco Islands, where he provided property stabilization services; as far south as Jamaica, where he provided the Calder Estate with valuation services for properties located at Port Antonio; and as far north as Seattle, Washington where he provided Weyerheauser with valuation and litigation services associated with the expansion of the Port of Tacoma. Mr. Hanson is recognized for his expertise in real estate valuation and litigation support. He was the testifying expert in an eminent domain assignment resulting in the largest eminent domain jury verdict ($165 million) in the history of Florida and an inverse condemnation action which resulted in the largest settlement in U.S. history for a “temporary taking.”

Mr. Hanson has provided valuation and/or consulting services to Universal Studios regarding their Sand Lake Road Campus adjacent to the Orlando Orange County Convention Center; dissenting shareholders with an interest in Lykes Bros.’ 350,000 acre agri-business; investment bankers valuing U.S. Sugar’s public traded stock with assets including 200,000 acres of Florida muck land and two sugar mills; St. Joe’s Topsail Hill property in Florida’s panhandle which was acquired by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection; the expansion of numerous airports, including Southwest Florida International Airport (RSW), Orlando International Airport (ORL), Atlanta-Hartfield International Airport (ATL), St. Louis’ Lambert Field, Seattle’s Sea-Tac International Airport and Miami International Airport’s Intermodal System (the MIC). Mr. Hanson is a published author in authoritative texts such as The Appraisal of Real Estate, Valuation Insights & Perspectives, and Real Estate Issues.
